GC41 - The armour experience conundrum

So, after deciding to restart my first GC runthrough just befor Stalingrad I just had a DV in Vyazma (lots of decent weather) and am starting streets of Moscow for the first time.
This time I am playing on general difficulty.
The reason for restarting was lack of prestige due to bad decisions mainly in 39/40/41. I had about 20k prestige in the middle of GC42. At the moment I have 37k after reinforments with a larger core as well, so on that end things are definitely better looking.
Also this runthrough I aimed for SE armour so at the moment I have 4 SE tanks, 3 pzIII and 1 pzIV. The last few battles I deployed 6 tank units, 4 SE, 1 KV1B and 1 Char.
The KV1B has almost 3 stars, a A2 attack hero and with a little overstrength is just a total beast on the battlefield at the moment. The Char is a 3 stars and has a defensive hero, with overstrength completely indestructable.
I like my captured tanks very much.
I also have four non-SE tank units, 2 PzIII and 2 PzIV including Kerscher. But they just don't get a look-in anymore these last few scenarios.
I definitely need the the SE armour units for a fully fledged attack force and then there is just not room anymore for Kerscher and consorts.
So prestige build-up for these units is at a standstill at the moment and they are languishing in army reserve.
I also gave up on nurturing the panzerjaegers, they are just not adding enough in battle at the moment and require a lot of repairs.
I have two in reserve at the moment at 1-1,5 stars. It will have to be enough until the StuGs come along, then I will happily field them again.
My Vyazma setup was this
8 Infantry including a fallschirmjaeger (maybe a bit much)
The 6 mentioned tanks
1 flamm Pz
2 recon
10 artillery
1 8.8 flak
3 fighters
3 tac bombers
1 lvl bomber
I could have done with an extra fighter or extra AA, choices choices...
I guess the tankforce will grow a little bit in 42 but not by a whole lot, maybe 8 in total plus Stug3F. I just do not see much possibilities for my non-SE armoured untis to gain much prestige and more importantly heros.
