Chinese Mounted

Still picking over my old Chinese and Turk collection, I have another question about classifications for Chinese mounted.

Specifically, I have several stands of Tibetan/Chinese Cataphracts that used to serve as the mounted component for Northern Dynasties and other armies in that period/region.

Do the Tibetan, Northern Dynasties and other "nearby" lists still use cataphracts in substantial numbers? Or would the figure be better utilized as some flavor of Cavalry?

From what I have heard on the 'grapevine' Tibetan can be all cataphracts with nothing else in the army except generals, depicted as cataphracts,,,,,, or blokes with magic daggers :(
