After 10+ years the brilliance of this game mechanics started to make even more sense to me

I started playing PzC in 2011 without any prior experience with wargames. I've read multiple ww2 related books, but those weren't about tactics / operations, just memoirs and other stuff.

I realized that this game is based on real-world stuff and common sense, but mostly treated the abstractions and concepts represented in-game like some generic mechanics, nothing more.

But after the war outbreak in my country this year, I obviously started following the news and how the operations unfold. And most of the time I can relate to this or that PzC concept, even though the nature of the conflict is different (widespread drones usage, etc).

Rivers, railways, roads, troops experience, infantry specializations, artillery / armor / infantry use cases, weather, suppression, ambushes, mass attack, zones of control...All this stuff makes so much sense now, and I am amazed how well it is represented in-game. Even artillery shelling sounds are very realistic.

But war is a grueling thing, and I obviously don't recommend anyone to experience it firsthand.
