Very very odd game behavior.

I was playing on a home made map today. 26x26 with 8 players, version 1.3 After playing for quite some time something strange happened.
It was my turn and I made a few moves here and there. Then, I brought an Arquebusier down to hit an opposing tower. Much to my surprise I could not attack the tower.
So, just to see what would happen I attacked the hex next to the tower and yes, I could attack it. Then something even more strange happened.
My Arque dude still had his movement. Even though I had attacked an enemy tile he still had a movement. So, I attacked another empty enemy tile, (the same enemy). Again, I had a movement. Just for the heck of it I kept using the same Arque and attacked the same enemy until I had taken nearly all of his hexes with one guy, on one turn. Yet, at no time could I ever take any towers.

Well, that sort of took the fun out of the battle so I loaded my last saved game and it happened again. This time I noticed, on the player graph at the bottom right of the screen, my opponent had no graph. It was as if the computer player stopped existing. Again I took almost his whole territory except his towers.

Also, I noticed that when I split his territory into smaller territories he did not get a new town for those territories.
Finally I shut the whole game down and tried again. And yes, I was able to walk all over the same player except his towers.
I tested this with different units. Even a spearman could attack at will. There were no ZOC. I could attack anywhere except towers.
I tried attacking different opponents with the same units and everything worked as expected.
You can imagine that after 2 hours of playing this was a gravely disappointing.

This is one of the most enjoyable games I've purchased in years so I'd sure like to see these things worked out.

I would be happy to send a copy of the saved games and the original map file if that might help figure out what happened.

Well, that is certainly some of the oddest behaviour we've had reported for conquest...

Based on your description i can make a pretty good guess as to why you were able to make all those moves with a single unit - the game apparently handed all of the AI player's tiles to you at some point - since you were technically moving on your own tiles there was no movement costs, you couldn't attack towers because it thought you owned them and you can't put a unit on top of a tower. What i can't say is why it would do such a thing in the first place - there was a similar problem in v1.0 where this happened, but only at the start of a game and only if the turn order was changed (so you let an AI player go first instead of the human player).

It would be very helpful if you could supply me with the saved game and the map file that you were using - usually with this sort of bug it is very hard to replicate the conditions that cause it, so having it already set up will save us a great deal of time in tracking down the problem. You can send the files to me directly at george.quinn@gmail.com

Hi Jekky,

Sure. I'll PM my email and what I'll put in the subject line so you know it's not SPAM.

I figured this would be a real pain to track down. I think I'll start a new game with the map to see what happens. It's a fairly hard map, designed so player 1 has the disadvantage.
