strategic transport (train) discovery

we all know about "strategic movement" i.e. the embark/disembark icon when a unit starts its turn in a city or port hex, right? it uses the rail network/rail movement type. i'll ignore sea and air movement for now - this is about land transport. you can redeploy a unit a great distance in one turn, city to city and you get the train icon. that is controlled by entries for class 17 units in equipment.pzdat and by type of movement (10) in movement.pzdat. you can move 30 hexes by this method in any weather/ground state. for other movement of more than a couple of hexes infantry and guns require attatched transport (class 14 - trucks etc.)

well you can edit movement.pzdat to allow "trains" to use the road network!

the values i have entered are just to see if it works (it does). i would suggest making class 17 units in the equipment file have maybe 24 moves rather than 30 and experiment with the values above in movement.pzdat to your taste. i have a greater goal in mind to do away with attatched transports altogether and have "mobile" versions of infantry and guns which adds 1 or 2 moves to the units for "tactical" movement and use the above method for travelling longer "strategic" distances.
10 years of panzercorps modding and no one has come up with this idea.

what do you think?
