Tournament game - allowing me to play as the opponent

Occasionally, when playing in the tournaments, I have problems uploading my turn to the server. The game displays a message saying, that it cannot connect. When I retry, it displays the same message again. After a few attempts, it displays a message saying, that I can try again or cancel and abandon the turn. When I cancel, the game disappears from my list and shows on the opponent list, as if it was uploaded correctly.

Today (2022-07-25, about 23:10 +02:00), when playing in the "Rise of the Swiss" tournament with memorex (me as Germany, memorex as Swiss), it went differently. When I finished my turn, it started the upload, but it was taking a long time. After about 2 minutes I pressed the cancel button. After a few retries (which didn't work), I chose to abandon the turn. This time, the game didn't disappear from my list. When I launched it again, it shown my moves and then allowed me to play as my opponent. I didn't do anything, pressed the button to save the turn for later, then it disappeared from my list.

That is a known issue. Sometimes it does upload correctly but still gives an error message. And then it won't let you re-upload. We are still struggling to pin down the cause of this.

That is very bad. The data has become corrupted. We will look into it, but it probably isn't fixable for your particular game.

OK, thanks, so far we've been able to continue the game after this incident.

After the failed upload, when I launched the game, it allowed me to control the units of my opponent. I pressed the "save turn for later" button. The game then disappeared from my list and appeared on my opponent list. He was able to play his turn then, and then I was able to play my next turn and so far the game is behaving normally.

Bizarre, but interesting.
