if you don't pick Galland up during the SCW campaign, when is he made available in the 3 9? or is he? the prestige sink is killing me.

He is only available during SCW...unless you begin the campaign without an imported core in AO39, '40, or '41. But then you are also getting is a lesser version of Galland. He doesn't include the + attack and initiative traits, only with leadership, aiming assistance, and legendary.

Galland is available in AO39 in a slightly weaker form, iff you don't import your core.
So no the prestige sink is required in SCW to get Galland.

Galland's Legendary trait will pay for the prestige sink and then some over a full AO campaign

Disband as many other heroes as necessary to afford the prestige sink. Galland is worth it. Even if he is the only hero you have at that point.

Why disband any heroes? The less prestige you got, the less hurts you the prestige sink.
When you are low on prestige and you know its coming you can repair all your units at the end of the scenario. So losing 50% after that hurts even less.

But I have to agree, get galland at all costs

I imagined the hero dismissals taking place after the prestige sink—otherwise, you wouldn’t net their full value.
