Does anyone know, how the Radar unit works or what effect it has in game?

In game PC1 it was described as having higher initiative for fighter planes. For the PC2 game, one might assume that the Radar unit has the “FighterSupport”, “LongRanged”, “StrikesFirst” or “AllWeatherCombat” traits, but the Units.csv file does not show any of these traits for this unit. With a radar station it should also be possible to see enemy planes in the fog of war.

Has anyone already tested this? (If none, then it could be implemented with Pacific DLC)

No effect, as you have already found from unit.csv. It does have a large sight range, 5 I think, but nothing special. They appeared as target for Operation Sealion related scenarios and act as objectives iirc.

Radar has a Spotting Range of 4.

Radar's basic combat trait is 'Hard Target'. With AA=0 the Traits you have listed would have no effect.

In PzC1 it increased Init of Fighters within spotting range. Don't know about PzC2. It would be a Trait intrinsic to Radar, so not listed in Units.
