Greetings,

There will be a minor forum outage for maintenance at 10:00 EST today.

That is approximately 4 hours from the time of this post.

Downtime is expected to only be a few hours.

Thanks in advance for your understanding,
Edmon

The class interface of the forum has changed for the better)

Yes... however, in some areas the contrast between text/links and background has been reduced/lost, e.g. green on dark blue is hard to read (for older eyes)...

Maybe there is a way to still fine tune some of these style enhancements, please?

Why change the interface?
Green is aggressive.

Can we have an option for "classic" style please? This high contrast black-green-white is plain horrible and really killing eyes... Not to mention like half of interface is barely visible now - page count, return link, moderator list just for example

If you want the forum to utilize the entire width of your screen, please do the following:

• Login to the forum
• Once logged in click on your username in the top right.
• Select the User Control Panel
• Select the Board Preferences Tab
• On board style change from “slitherine” to slitherine-wide”
• Click Submit

That's a cute trick, but does not change the two biggest issues with the forums now.

1. Fonts are hard to see due to the background and text both being grayish and melding together.
2. Green on gray is also quite straining for the eyes.

In theory, this new look and color scheme looks more modern, but in reality it causes a worse user experience for the forums. It's like the petrol–electric transmission on the Ferdinand - cool idea, but utterly impractical. :)

Did anyone from Slitherine read these comments on the readability of the text/links?

I had hoped to get used it to it but it really makes it less fun to read anything on the forum as the navigation becomes way more cumbersome...

I hope this gets improved somehow and hopefully soon.

Thanks a lot!

Changing to wide helps, but the new style is less readable for me than the original. As others have said, I would like an option to go back to the perfectly acceptable previous style. I'm all for progress, as long as it's in the right direction!

Yes, wide-screen option helps but contrast issues are still the same...

Contrast issues aside I do like the integration of the forum with the site and your personal page.

Hi all i like thevfull integration but not the reduction in contrast, can we at least have an option to lose the grey background?

Oh and the edit to make it “wide” really helps maybe you should post that on all the forums?

As above, the change to the gray background decreases the readability for my fifty-something eyes :-(

And the green text on the black background in the forum headers (for example, the "Mark Topics Read" and the moderators' names) is almost invisible.

Was there any usability testing done, or was this color scheme the programmers' preference "because it looks cool" or whatever?

Hi all,
Any news on this color code topic?
