LOEG Early Classical Antiquity Round 3 - Results

Scoring

Scoring will be based upon the break level and by how close the battle was. The narrower the margin between players will result in scores rather close while an early decisive win will be wider.

Win: 60 + (enemy break% - winner break %)
Draw or Loss: (enemy break %)

Example:
pantherboy (Romans) (61%) vs CheAhn (Carthage) (48%)
pantherboy (48%) = 48pts
CheAhn 60 + (61% - 48%) = 73pts


Reporting Games

Reporting results will be incumbent on the player who won the battle. They will be required to log into the Slitherine Forum and post the result publicly on the appropriate thread (e.g. Late Antiquity Eastern Conference Results). Results posted should be reported in the following format;

Pod (A/B/C etc.)
Player ID (army) (Army Break %) score vs Player ID (army) (Army Break %) score

Rosedelio (Pontic) defeats SimonLancaster (Macedonian) 54-27

The Macedonians had a good defensive position with the forests defending their flanks. The Pontic army was able to slowly encroach on the right while their left delayed in the other forest. The quick collapse of the pikes upon contact helped too.

The more I play nyczar the more I respect him as an indivivual and as an opponent.

Division B

Geffalrus (Antigonids) defeats IMC (Romans and Numidians) 41-4

Slow game at first as the Antigonids retreated and skirmished in the face of the Roman artillery. After a lucky cavalry charge punctured the Roman flank and brought some lancers in melee range of the artillery crew, the Antigonids decided that it was time to engage the Roman line. Extensive skirmishing had depleted the Roman cavalry and light troops, so the Antigonids were able to lock the legions in place with lancers and pikes while exploiting their flanks with thureophoroi. A spirited attack by the Roman auxiliaries almost broke the Antigonid left, but the battle ended just in time.

Good game to my opponent, and thank you Pantherboy for organizing this tournament.

Carpenkm (Macedon) beat SawyerK (Pergamene) 59 -16

The Macedonians camped on a hill and managed to manufacture a flank attack on a Pergamene Phallanx. That was all that was needed to open up more flanks and cascade break. A bit unlucky. well played.

In a revolving door style battle the Gauls were unable to connect with the Indian refused flank while the elephants made hay with their opposing impact foot. As Snooky put it "It's as if I didn't have an army"
