Campaign help needed

Edit: I created a test environment where I removed everything related to the campaign variables.
The move from scneario-1 to scenario-2 still stops on the default campaign screen.
So there must be something else.

I have started testing a new naval campaign. When I exit the first scenario the campaign 'crashes', displaying the default campaign image.
I am using campaign variables to keep track of sunk AI ships (removing them in later scenarios). But something may not be correctly set up.

Variables in the campaign screen. I assume these are used simply as map information.

Two things off the top of my head (in addition to hair):

1) I would get rid of the "Cesare = 0" trigger. It's probably harmless but it's also superfluous. The "Cesare = 1" trigger sets up both the Variable Name and the Variable Value at the same time. Again it's probably doing nothing, but to the extent there is a possibility of it causing the error, you could eliminate it.

2) By any chance are the Cesare and the other Italian ships core units? Because, if so, I'd point to that as a problem. Say in the first scenario, it's sunk. The campaign is tracking that, and in the second scenario you have it reappearing on the map and then being undeployed when it's registered as already killed. If this is the problem, could the Italian ships be auxiliary?

Thanks, Bru. The Italain ships are all non-core.

I edited the first post, basically removing everything variable-related and running a test. Still get that default campaign map.
All scenarios play fine in single-mode. So it looks like there is something in the campaign-file.
Maybe I need to create the campaign from scratch.
