So Game Two produced four peasant wins, three victories for the Habsburg lords and one game undecided or unreported, so we declare a narrow victory to the rebels, well done!
Game Three will be a trip north to see how the rebellious Danes can do. The game will be:
Danish peasants 1534 v Danish 1523-1542 9 (from Extra Nations v3)
As usual, large armies, wide agricultural terrain, open battle.
Match-ups
Kiwiwarlord v Gort7078 (l)
ratprince v snugglebunnies (w)
gdod v doyley50 (l)
warrior230 v GentlemanRanker (w)
smjohnso77 v snooky51 (w)
Markleslie v Awesum4 (d)
BobGanoush v Kerry D
Lascar v PeterthePainter (w)
Rebels, please launch the games and let your opponent know by pm.
For the remaining games, with apologies to Andre and Snuggles, I have decided that we will just stick to the proposed schedule though I do accept that I could have found a better selection of scenarios. We'll do better next time!
Have fun...

markleslie vs awesum4 game set.
The down trodden of Denmark take heart, "The Peoples" Front bandwagon has just rolled into town.
So put on your Sunday best and pick up a bloody big stick, it's time for a hoedown!

Comrades, grim news from the front.
Bloody mayhem wrought, mighty kiels broken, horsemen buzzing about like fat arsed blowflies at a BBQ and just as welcome.
The day was hard fought and long, but in the end, neither side could strike the decisive blow that would decide the fate of the nation.
markleslie Danish rebels troops routed 52% drew with awesum4 Danish troops routed 54%.
The curtain of night has descended and both parties have retired to their respective camps to contemplate the day and what could have been.

We have held the field against hordes of smelly unwashed peasants who had the temerity to revolt against their true masters.
As reported it was a very hard-fought affair, with there rarely being more than a few % difference between the armies. A most enjoyable battle, and a fair result in the end.
I look forward to battling my opponent from over the ditch in the future

Headline from Ivar Lykke-Buket of the Danish Daily in Volby
WAR ENDS against local lord and his Pitchfork monopoly amid a flurry of Seaside sized Puns
Doyley's liege-lord and his aristocratic cronies failed to turn back the tide of peasants furiously waving their sub-standard pitchforks in a sea of anger. GDod continues to surf the swell of good fortune, avoiding the ebb and flow of violence that has been dominant in the region over the previous months.
Alan's strategy of avoiding linear combat and preferring to gallop all over the field to isolate individual units almost paid dividends. One more turn would have seen the peasants flee in all directions but losses had accumulated in the imperialist ranks to such an extent that morale could not be maintained. The exception in the imperialist ranks were the blocks of mercenary pike. Not only did these Landsknecht mercenaries maintain their ground they almost threatened to derail the peasant army's ambitions by routing and fragging all who dared to charge them in front flank and rear. At the same time, with gendarmes and their supporting soldiers armed with arquebuses fleeing all over the field, they could have retired in good order. Nevertheless, with their pay masters gone and the imperial baggage train overrun, I fear they would have had little reason to continue in Doyley's service.
So, ends the peasant rebellion in Volby. Now, our Danish peasants can enjoy knight clubbing as well dressed as our dashing Hungarian cousins!
The game was always in doubt Alan. Your strategy was sound. Unfortunately, I had deployed in strength on both wings in anticipation of a Cannaen victory and the shear number of units were always against you.

Round 3 Result
KiwiWarlord's 48,685 Revolting Peasants (10%) crush Gort7078's 17,457 Danish Aristocrats ( 48% )
I think Gort's inexperience played a part as did the Peasants 2.8 pitchforks to 1 well dressed sword.

SnuggleBunnies (Nobles) defeats ratprince (plebs) 50-22
The cavalry suffered heavy loss when uncontrollably pursuing fleeing peasants, but the landsknechts were immovable, and the arquebusiers inflicted heavy casualties and disruptions against peasant pikemen pinned down by the horsemen.

PeterThePainter (Nobles 3% routed) beat Lascar (Peasants 45% routed)
Landsknecht Keils were designed for melee. So after waiting for the Slovenian and Hungarian peasants to come to me this time my Danish troops were marched down from their hill to take the battle to the peasants. With banners aloft, artillery shot screaming overhead into the horde of peasants below, the gendarmes and late gendarmes in close attendance on the flanks, and just behind the Keils, and my skirmishers and arquebusiers in close attendance. The Landsknecht Keils went for the peasant line with the biggest concentration of pike blocks trying to smash as many as possible as quickly as possible. Ranged fire supplemented by artillery fire was useful and the late gendarmes were successful against fragmented pike blocks and enemy ranged infantry. But the bulk of the heavy lifting was done by the Landsknecht Keils. Even so the end came just in time as continual rounds of melee were leading to significant accumulated casualties, with at least one Landsknecht unit disrupting on the final turn.
I forgot to give a mention to one unit type, the demi lancers; they spent the entire battle hanging out on the extreme flanks trying to look a lot more menacing than they really are. They preformed the task exceptionally well.
A brilliant plan? No a mistake. Due to an accident in the deployment phase I went to the first turn before I had finished my deployment and rather than setting up the “perfect defence” I was forced to consider alternative plans. So perhaps attack is the best form of defence, certainly food for thought in the next battle.
Well played to Lascar he was very unlucky; as far as I recall not one of the peasant pike blocks rallied back from routed at anytime. Had that happened and the game lasted longer just a couple of my landsknecht deciding they had enough would have given the game a different complexion.

GentlemanRanker’s Danish Nobility survive the onslaught of warrior230’s Danish Peasants by 33 to 61
The battlefield had a large hill and extensive woodland in the centre. warrior230 formed up in deep formation, with pikemen in the front and missile units in the middle and gendarmes at the back, and the whole mass surged forward. The noble infantry shamelessly ran for the corner of the field, where there were patches of rough ground and a built up area to shelter the massed arquebusiers . Due to the hill, and having to manoeuvre slowly into position, the noble’s artillery managed to achieve nothing except act as a charge target, and the gendarmes were squandered and destroyed trying to slow down the oncoming pike hordes [Hindsight: they would have been much better utilised behind the Landsknecht line, to take up the ZOC of those enemy units that managed to break through].
The Danish peasants had one goal - to engage, surround and destroy the noble’s mercenary Landsknechts, and this they very nearly achieved. However, a force of seven units of late gendarmes and demi-lancers taking the long route around the woods on the right flank, with sterling support from the noble’s light missile troops, caught and killed the enemy gendarmes, engaged several units of pikes sent to stop them, and finally managed to get a handful of units behind the line of the infantry engagement, chasing down the squishy peasant medium troops, and getting in some vital rear charges. The peasants did succeed in getting several units behind the line of engagement, and to break a couple of units of Landsknechts with rear charges, but the massed arquebusiers managed to tie them up and slow them down long enough to get the win. To add insult to injury, three noble units rallied on the very last turn, to rather flatter the final score. Thank you Paul, GG!

The peasant horde has been routed 61-46. Long live the aristocracy. Long live keeping those filthy poors in their place.

So, I bring Round Three to a close. This was a decisive win for the Danish King who put down the revolt with some ease, despite pockers of resistance.
I have had no word from Kerry D or BobGanoush, neither on the forum nor in response to my pm. I will leave them to finish the game and if they are still interested, they can rejoin in Round 5.
