Gallogleich cost 51 (superior, protected)
Vet. Muslim Spearmen cost 57 (superior, protected)
Huscarls/Foot Knights (old style) cost 69 (superior, armoured)

Difference between Gallogleich and Huscarls is 18 points for better armour (protected - armoured)

So in my oppinion Gallogleich are much too cheap (at least they should cost 57)

Are there other differences like drilled vs. undrilled or medium vs. heavy foot that could account for the difference?

In practice Veteran Protected Spearmen are overall a more resilient unit. Hence their price was increased in a previous patch.

If tournament play reveals that Galloglaigh are over cost-effective then adjustments will be made in a future patch.

Let's see how the Anglo-Irish armies perform in the tournaments. You have to take into account all the units on offer in a list as well as looking at the individual unit.

The Gallogleich are only in three lists for the Irish. In all those lists the major bulk of your infantry will be Irish Kerns which are pretty poor even if they only cost 30. In the Anglo-Irish 1400 AD and 1415 AD lists you also get to take two Billmen. The Arab lists had stronger supporting infantry.
