Mod ideas? Another official update?

Just wondering if there is a modding scene for this game. It's clear there are alot of ideas for tweaks to the game and some of them are small tweaks.
Like increase Fleet cap in Campaign. Skirmish mode enemy Fleet randomizer. Fully unlocked Blueprints (including Modern Ships) for Campaign.
Another complaint I've seen a lot is the Mercury Class being underwhelming and poorly laid out compared to the show version.
They really should release at least one more small update for the game. Some of the community requests would probably not be very hard for them to do.
