I just got an SE infantry unit. But it has no transport, and I can not seem to upgrade to give it a transport. This is no good, or am I missing something?

Not the answer to your question but... many people sell any SE infantry units to get the prestige and wait for more expensive tanks to deploy them later on without impacting deployed unit value... there is a lot on this on the forum...

I have read about this. But I got the SE inf unit on the second campaign map, and they don't give tanks until the PZ3F comes out around the 6th map. So you can use SE infantry until the 4-5th map and then sell them, so you are ready to get SE tanks

I agree on this approach... one more thought... if you sell it on the second map (you get the prestige) and you could get another the next map, it's a random check... and you could sell it again... of course you don't get the kills but it's a choice some people do

Did you try to upgrade it during deployment phase before starting turn 1? If so, you should have been able to upgrade.
Or did you try to upgrade after starting turn 1? If so, need to be in friendly city. If trying to upgrade in a city captured from enemy a certain number of turns have to elapse before you can upgrade units in it. I don't know exact number of turns.
Or was situation something else?
If you can post screen shot(s) that might help with trying to figure it out.

I got the SE INF unit at the start of the second map and did not deploy yet. I chose the unit in the panel as I always do and clicked upgrade, but no transports show. On any other infantry unit it shows a transport to choose from, early game is the Opel. I even tried to upgrade on the third map, same thing, no transports to choose from.

What unit is it?

The SE Gebirgsjäger. I did add some things to the equip file, but left all the SE units original, including the SE transports. I went back and verified that all the SE unit information was original. I have infantry as SE units as well as SE transports, nothing there was changed. Although all the SE transports have "bonus" in their traits, not sure when the game actually gives you bonus SE land transports, I thought they would include an SE transport with any SE infantry units it awards you, but in my game it does not. As a side note, I can upgrade from one SE infantry unit to another.

So here is a question, could it just be that the SE Gebirgsjäger can't be given transports?

SE Gebirgsjager usually come with transport in the standard game.

i was looking for transport topic to not start a new one. can anyone suggest if there is legal option to abandon truck during a scenario, without entering city, without boarding the plane? the truck prevents infantry from moving into terrain impassable for truck, thus infantry has to surrender

sorry I dont think is doable to delete the truck during the battle, only in between scenarios during setup, select the truck and delete.But you can try it
