LOEG Early Classical Antiquity Division A - Results

Scoring

Scoring will be based upon the break level and by how close the battle was. The narrower the margin between players will result in scores rather close while an early decisive win will be wider.

Win: 60 + (enemy break% - winner break %)
Draw or Loss: (enemy break %)

Example:
pantherboy (Romans) (61%) vs CheAhn (Carthage) (48%)
pantherboy (48%) = 48pts
CheAhn 60 + (61% - 48%) = 73pts


Reporting Games

Reporting results will be incumbent on the player who won the battle. They will be required to log into the Slitherine Forum and post the result publicly on the appropriate thread (e.g. Late Antiquity Eastern Conference Results). Results posted should be reported in the following format;

Two very shooty armies came head to head but the unspaced double row of my opponent's deployment (with massed archers in the front rank) meant he was unable to manoeuvre his pikes and elephants into position in time. I decided that the gamble of having to charge uphill was worth this. When the elephants that didn't get chain disrupted or shot to pieces did manage to reach my line they caused some late game havoc but not enough to turn the tide. Well-played.

The Bows of the Persians were painful but not terminal to the Elephants of Carthage. They managed to survie the missiles and get into contact.
One Elephant was broken but with a General riding it and no Persians to chase it down it was brought back into the fight.
At the end and the score does not reflect how close a match it was. If another elephant had gone under it could easily have swung against Carthage.

Terrain favored the Carthaginians so the Seleucids tried to break the Carthaginian center before their flanks were overwhelmed. However, the Carthaginian center tenaciously held on and both Seleucid flanks collapsed.

Tough game and went the spaniards way early before the gauls clawed their way back in.

The Persians anchored their defense on a steep hill that made it a challenge for the Carthaginians. Halfway through the battle about one-third of the Persians came off the hill and crushed the Carthaginian left flank. Fortunately, the right flank of the Carthaginians forced most of the Persian cavalry to evade off the map. This allowed the Carthaginian heavy infantry to successfully storm the hill and win the battle. The outcome was in doubt till the end and was closer than the score indicates. Thanks for the game.
