FoG Empires vs Alea Jacta Est

I have all the FoG 2 Ancients games and enjoy them. Also own FoG Empires for a Roman grand strategy fix but I haven't been able to try it yet. Love grand strategy games, not worried about complexity.
Recently started paying attention to AGEOD titles using the AGE engine. Interested in Alea Jacta Est.
Both published by Slitherine and developed by AGEOD, is there a reason to own both titles or should I stick with the newer FoG Empires to appease my ancient Rome strategy fix?
Figure a lot of FoG Empires players might familiar with Alea Jacta Est.

FOG:E is not a pure historical recreation of the early Roman era. You won't necessarily get Caesar or Scipio Africanus, although you will have Roman Commanders that lead your armies. Also, Empires allows you to play dozens of different Nation Factions, not just Rome. So, AJE would have familiar faces and narrower goals, although it's still a lot of fun. Empires has a unique victory system based on Legacy. You can theoretically make an empire that rises and then falls into ruin, but still wins the game with the highest Legacy points total. If you give Empires a play through, then plenty of players can give you advice. Good luck!

I really like them both but I play FOG:E more now because of the new engine. FOG:E is more Grand Strategy while AJE seems more zoomed IE.. FOG:E map is larger overall while AJE has a smaller map divided into smaller areas.
FOG:E :Grand Strategic with many other factions to deal with...
FOG:E : yearly turns
FOG:E is a new engine seems much faster.
Tactical export option to FOG2 (I never use it but you may like that option.)
AJE: Monthly turns
Historically based Scenarios some are large covering several years some are shorter Ie... the year of the 4 Caesars
Older engine runs slower. I scroll the whole map and open all information and decision windows when I first start. Seems Ok once everything is loaded into memory.
No tactical control option...
It's about $10 has lots of DLC.
Hope that helps...

I appreciate you sharing those details. FoG Empires sounds like it has more of a "sandbox element" with Alea Jacta Est offering a bit more historical accuracy and "zoomed in" detail for a given scenario. I like those differences; certainly enough to warrant both in my collection.
Thanks again.
