Invasion and Conquest of Britain


I would like to start a 3rd "There Can Be Only One" tournament. It will feature the various battles and struggles leading up to the conquest of Britain in 1066. I am envisioning 6 battles:


1. Pax Romana: Claudius' Invasion of the Isles.

Armies: Roman 24 BC - 196 AD vs Ancient British 60 BC - 80 AD

2. Germanic Rise: Anglo-Saxon Invasion of Britain.

Armies: Anglo-Saxon 449-599 AD vs Romano-British 407-599 AD

3. Menace from the West: Irish Scots incursion into Welsh-land.

Armies: Scots-Irish 477-899 AD vs Welsh 477-599 AD

4. Viking Invasion of Wessex: Battle of Ashdown

Armies: Anglo-Saxon 871-949 AD vs Vikings 790-899 AD

5. Viking Power Broken in Ireland: Battle of Clontarf

Armies: Irish 900-1049 AD vs Vikings (Ireland) 900-1049 AD

6. Norman Conquest of England: Battle of Hastings

Armies: English 1066 AD vs Norman 1041-1071 AD ***(If both players don't have FoG 2: Medieval, British 600-1030 AD vs Norman 923-1040 AD will be used)

I envision a similar format like the previous TCBOO tournaments: 2 generals (players) working together until the last battle, where finally they have to fight each other for the ultimate prize - The Roman Empire!

Each team of 2 people play a mirror game against another team, BUT each person only plays 1 of the mirror games.

Example: In the first battle "Pax Romana" Team 1 has players A and B; Team 2 has players C and D. There is 1 mirror match (2 games to be played total). Team 1 decides player A will use the Romans in the 1st mirror match game, and player B uses the British in the 2nd match game. Team 2 decides player D will play the British in the 1st mirror match game, and player C will use the Romans in the 2nd match game. So altogether the first match game has A against D, and second match has B against C.

*****Scoring
Winners of a battle get 60 points plus how much of a percentage they won by. Losers get how many casualties they inflicted.

For example: In the 1st battle, Team 1 player A beats player D 61-36, and in the 2nd battle player C wins against player B 40-15.

Team 1 - 1st battle 60 + 25 = 85 points 2nd battle 15 points total for both battles = 100 points
Team 2 - 1st battle 36 points 2nd battle 60 + 25 = 85 points total for both battles = 96 points

*****Elimination
Round 1 no teams are eliminated - all 8 teams remaining
After Round 2 the 2 teams with the lowest combined points from both R1 and R2 are eliminated - 6 teams remaining
After Round 3 the next 2 lowest scoring teams eliminated - 4 teams remaining
After Round 4 the next 2 lowest scoring teams eliminated - 2 teams remaining
After Round 5 the lowest scoring team is eliminated - 1 team remaining
After Round 6 the lowest scoring person is eliminated - 1 person remaining (winner)

The teams are made by random draw, but I check DL ratings and try to re-draw if two top players get teamed together. So, it's 95% random dice roll draw.^^

I just want to explain about the 6th battle and why there are two choices in a tad bit more detail. The first 5 battles are all from regular FoG 2, but the last one, if done proper, should be in Medieval. On saying that, I don't want to restrict players who don't have Medieval from playing, just because they can't play the last game, which most won't get to anyway. So, I decided that if the last two people remaining in the tourney don't have Medieval they can play an alternate battle similar to "Hastings" in original FoG 2.

So the short of it is, you can join this tournament with or without Medieval.^^

I'm in. And this time I'm intending to stay in until the end.

EDIT: I've got Medieval. And all DLCs for Ancients.
