Problem with self created maps

I started trying to create new maps (eg. 60x40 Hex, or 90 x 60 Hex) with the editor. I noticed that the game has problems with river tiles in connection with many detailed terrain tiles. This manifests itself in significantly increasing loading times or freezing of the game in between the loading action.
Apparently a compromise has to be found here, either using detailed river courses and less detailed terrain tiles (clear) or vice versa.
Is it possible to improve that from the PC2 engine?

The reason for this could be that moving (surface is animated) river tiles require too much graphics power or too much memory. A possible solution for this could be to integrate unanimated river tiles, similar to the swamp tiles.
I think, for gaming fun It's acceptable.

I noticed this too, but this isn't the biggest problem with the game or its editor.

I haven't noticed the problem you mention with river tiles and am not sure what you mean. Can you post a screenshot?
At a guess I'd say your very large maps might have something to do with it.

I get on pretty well with the editor, which bits don't you like?

The problem has reappeared with update 1.3.3 after it disappeared with patch 1.2.4. In general, the game machine does not seem to be able to load many/longer rivers without any problems, but instead gets stuck (endless loading time). It also seems to play a role whether narrow and wide rivers intersect.
Is this perhaps related to the RAM space required for the flow tile graphics (river with animated surface)?

remove all roads going paralell to the river and try again. roads that or in the black void outside of the map (can happen when u downsize a map) have the same effect.
