Chinese lists from E of the D

I want to spend some time pondering my next army. I have already decided that it will be something Chinese, as I enjoy the history, and enjoyed playing some of then (with borrowed figures) under DBM. I know that Empires of the Dragon won't arrive for some time, so I am asking those in the know for a hint or two. :)

My favorites, for historical and game play reasons, in the past have been Han, Northern & Southern Dynasties, and Sui/Early T'ang. So . . .

What will the Early T'ang Pu-ping infantry (to use the DBM name for them) be like?

How will the Southern Dynasties "dare-to-die" volunteers differ--if at all--from the ordinary infantry?

How will the Han cav be classified, and will they be able to dismount?

And many more questions as well. Talk to me, people!

Sharky, I mostly play later Chinese armies than you have mentioned but "Later Tang" and the "Ming" are two of my favorites.

Later Tang suffer from a lack of good infantry (mostly poor militia) but can have a small number of guard types that are both bow and halbard armed. The Tang cavalry (both cataphract and HC) are their best units at this time.

For enemies they have the Chinese Nomads, Tibet, 3 Dynasty Koreans, Burmese, Khazars, Nan-Chao, Khitan Lao, Islamic Arab Empire, and the Pre-Samurai Japanese.

The (post-1500) Ming are a largely a militia army, but have small portions of quality Heavy Infantry, Heavy Cavalry, and rockets and artillery thrown in.

They fought the Mongols, Burmese, Khmer, the Later (post 1500) Japanese, the Jurchen (Manchus) and almost the Yi Koreans.

I thought I saw Dare-to die described somewhere?

MF, unprotected, undrilled, impact, sword and possibly superior?

Han Cavalry I think were mentioned somewhere.

I suspected Protected Crossbow sword for some light spear sword for others.

I'm feeling kind so here are a few pointers to keep you going.

OK, this will confuse you :)

The Fubing will be MF, Protected, 1/2 Light Spear, Swordsmen, 1/2 Bow, Swordsmen, 6-8

Your task is now to work out why we came up with that

How will the Southern Dynasties "dare-to-die" volunteers differ--if at all--from the ordinary infantry?
Armoured, Heavy Weapon or Protected Impact Foot, Swordsmen.

How will the Han cav be classified, and will they be able to dismount?
Western or Eastern?

And many more questions as well. Talk to me, people!

You'll have to make do with that - and what has been posted before.

Will Empires of the Dragon have any mounted incendiarists, or will they lie the Mamluk ones be left out due to not being in sufficient numbers for a BG?

Yes

(Like rules, the wording of questions is important)

Oh well. At least I have learned that the list writers didn't think them to be an imaginary product of misleading sources.

Are you sure about that?

I would carefully reread your question if I were you then look at the answer.

Because defensive spear Bw* are against FoG philosophy, and the above classification was the best way out of it considering Fubing equipment? I like the classification though!

Nope, that would be OK as a combo - but would have been wrong for Tang.

Since the Fubing infantry are classed the same as the Assyrian infantry I can only assume it is because they had bowmen who were used primarily to shoot up and disrupt the enemy and then the spearmen would charge home?

If that isn't the answer I would like to see why the Assyrians were classed like that...
