FRENCH GRAND CAMPAIGN (FGC)

FGC 1- "La drôle de guerre" (playable)
The early (before german's strike on benelux) participation of the french army:

1.1 "Warndt Forest"
First move of the french 42ème DI, trying to take the Warndt forest

1.2 "Saar Offensive"
After the Warndt, the french 20 and 5 army corps walk across the Sarre and the Blies rivers to take some ground. The objective was to prepare a major offensive, which was never done.

1.3 "Sigfried East"
A "what if" scenario. French attack the germany west frontier to help the polish on the east. Due to some days of really bad weather, an attack along the Blies where the French try to enter the defensive setup of the Sigfried Line

1.3bis "Sigfried West"
An offensive is launched on the west side, to lure as many german as possible, while another force try to strike on the east (alternative option for the Sigfried East)

1.4 "Saarebrücken"
With the succes of their break through the Sigfried line, the french are able to take the city of Saarbrück

1.5 "Sarrbrücken2"
Germany have sent some forces from the polish border to retake the city

FGC 2 - "La Campagne de Norvège" (project)
The Allied counter to operation Weserübung.

FGC 2bis - "La bataille de France" (project)
The french fail against the german blitzkrieg. I have not clear ideas for now, but i think at least 5-6 scenarios are really easy to find.
Because of the timeline, it should be an alternate path for the FGC 2.

FGC 2ter - "La bataille des Alpes" (project)
The only undefeated french army of the war is fighting the italians, then the german.
Because of the timeline, it should be an alternate path for the FGC 2.

FGC 3 - "La France Afrique" (project)
French actions in Africa.

FGC 3bis - "La résistance" (project)
I'm not sure about this one, especially because it must be a different core than the 3 first chapters. But it could be interressant to have some "small scale mission", and to level up some french partisan core unit for the next chapter.
Because of the timeline, it should be an alternate path for the FGC 3.

FGC 5 - "La reconquête" (project)
End war actions, while allies are retaking europe.

FGC 6 - "La guerre d'Indochine" (project)
Maybe this could be a nice idea, even if it is a bit "out of range" from WWII, it is quite a natural extension to the world conflict in this area. This also lead to some questions about a chapter in Asia during the war, facing the japanese forces.

France 1940 or/and Free France ?

I don’t think there’s any campaign with the French to date for this game. For which other games there are campaigns with the French?

The Editor is easy to use

I've found this for Order of Battle and this for Battle Academy. But nothing for Panzercorps.

I would like something quite long, from 39 to 45 (maybe even further, with Indochina war). This could lead to a mini "french grand campain".

I'll have to work on the editoe ^^

A mod would be required in this case, which would be much more complicated except for a 1940 campaign.

What do you mean by "a mod" ? I thought that it was the "normal" use of the editor. Maybe you mean that it's harder to make a campain than a single scenario ?

The problem is that it takes enough units to make a campaign of Free France, I do not think there are enough Free France vanilla units ?

I started one based on a more effective Saarland attack based on a DLM type core. I started a 1940 follow on inspired by Blunted Sickle, but hit some problems with the original 1939 version and never quite got going again (though I haven't quite given up either).

I posted some of the units in Bergeria's artillery forum recently, though most were cut and pasted from other icons. Feel free to use any that look useful.

I will see if I can work out how to make anything usable in a reasonable time. Given how long I've sat on it already, don't hold your breath, and definitely don't expect Nikkivdd quality.

Thanks. I'm thinking about using the editor for some time, so i think this one will be the good one.

I'll try to create a first scenario (Saar Offensive), just to understand how the editor works. I'll probably have many questions, any specific place to ask them ?

Thanks. I totally forgot panzermarshall ^^. I'll give them a look, and will probably convert them for panzercorps.

For now, i'm starting to create a Saar Offensive scenario. I will try to make a quite complete scenario to test many aspects of the editor. If i manage to do something interesting, i'll work on the campain system later.

PS: Panzermarshal is based on Open General

I played a lot to panzermarshall, especially because it can be played directly on browser (which is usefull when you play at work for exemple ^^). I've never gone far in open general, but i will ofc try these scenarios. But after playing panzercorps a lot, i find the graphic from open general/panzermarshall a bit too small.

Is it easy to add unit (or modify some) for a scenario/campain ?

Look at DAW - Der Andere Weg a few posts farther down this page. There is an Allied campaign in which you can fight in France in 1940 and can build French core units for use throughout the campaign.

I'm working on my first scenario, the french offensive in the Warndst Forest, just before the Saar Offensive, i've manged to do the terrain, i've placed some units, set up some triggers, but i have some questions:

- What is the difference between core and auxiliary unit for the AI ?
- When i test my map, i have no deployment phase, how can i have one ?
- How to add new unit to the game ? For the 39 stuff, i think i have quite what i need with the french unit, but it could be nice to add some, especially if i manage to go far in my grand capaign project.
- What is the scenario image ? I've add one, but i can't see it in game
- How to add an hero picture ?

I'll probably have some more question later ^^. And if some want to test my first atempt, i'll be glad to have some feedback.

As for how to add a hero picture, I know you put the image in UI/heroes. But beyond that I am not sure.
