after Grozny in the 42...

how do you fight Lake Ladoga? I didn't see it offered? thanks
Yes, you can only get the young Manstein hero in the one path. It is a shame because even though I like those two scenarios a lot, I feel the Gronzy path includes the two best scenarios in the whole DLC! I suggested that they add a comparable hero to the Grozny path. You shouldn't miss out on a unique hero just because you chose another path. It can't be exactly the same because it wouldn't fit with the narrative. We will see if that happened whenever the AO42 patch comes out. I actually expect playing that DLC will be like a whole new experience once it does because it will feature a ton of changes.scorehouse wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 2:11 am did you play that scenario,LL? I don't see how splitting your troops would make any sense anyway. You are not an army or army group, your troops would never be split and than merged again like that.Wolfenguard wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 1:36 pm yes at some point, its meeh if you have to choose this or this Mission path only because you want this or this
in 41 i choose the path with more Tank battles so i can capture more of the KV1, for the 100 capture special goal for the Last Mission,
it would be nice if you will be able to send Troops to both Mission, but you can only take part in 1 of boths and you can only use your troops which you send to the mission.
Something like this,
you send your troops for the hero and take place in this missions and send Wagner with other Troops to the other mission
you get your bonuses from General Trait in the Missions where you take part in, but you have to use Wagners Traits in the other missions.
if you take part ins Both Missions you have limited Core Slots, because you have to split your Supply stuff, and dont get some special information about the Mission like in Some Missions where Wagner say, he thinks the weather will be bad so you have to let your Air Forces at the ground.
The only Big Problem atm is, that theres is no Option or mechanic for splitting your units into 2 different armys so you cant use your units with you take with you to the mission in wagners mission aso. The only option for this, will be atm that you can only use Aux units in Wagners Missions with zero xp (maybe Wagner gets a trait, where new Units starts with 1 or more Stars, depending on the Year)
Manstein was in very close terrain. A counterbalancing tank hero is conspicuously absent from the wide-open tank country Causus path. Wonder if he was removed as tanks are already generally OP relative to infantry.adiekmann wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 3:10 amYes, you can only get the young Manstein hero in the one path. Actually, Wolfenguard's thoughts have occurred to me before too. Units were divided and reorganized all the time. However, realistically you are correct with some problems with that. How could you, the player/General, be in two places commanding your troops at the same time? And that's to say nothing about how difficult (?) it may be to program. I just simply like the maps of both so it's always like I'm missing out on something whenever I'm forced to choose. That's why I've never been a big fan of these kinds of alternative pathways. In short, I like my campaign path to include as many scenarios as possible for each playthrough, and these different pathways shorten that despite the DLC containing "x scenarios." In reality, a playthrough is actually shorter than that as a result. It's like a kid who wants both flavors of ice cream but has to choose only one. I know I'm in the minority here in this PoV, but it's how I've always felt about these things and I don't think it will ever change.George_Parr wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 2:27 pmI don't see how splitting your troops would make any sense anyway. The whole point of the tree with multiple paths is that you can experience different things in different playthroughs. It wouldn't make any sense to be able to split your troops and do both. There is no reason why you should be able to do everything - or get everything - in one playthrough.
Even though I really appreciate the AT/AA heroes and young Manstein, I really expected/wanted another unique tank hero in this DLC. It's surprising that you've only gotten one so far in all of AO. '42 would have been a great opportunity to award Knispel, or that's at least what I would have done if I was involved in the project. Or maybe they thought tanks are pretty OP already with the heroes the player has been receiving since the beginning? I can understand that. Alternatively, a new unique fighter hero.BarbarianHunter wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 3:47 pmManstein was in very close terrain. Helping Hungarians has nothing to do with your choice later. Have you really read the campaign tree?scorehouse wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 8:45 pm can you assist the Hungarians with aircraft only battle and still get the choice to head to Leningrad for Manstein?
Hold Space key to speed it up.scorehouse wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 10:33 pm thanks. I just want to be sure. these battles where you assist other Armies, their turns take forever.
I like the unique heroes and would have liked a tank hero in the alternate path as well. Hero spam can get a bit out of control especially when you stack multiple traits on a single hero slot. I'd say give him out anyway and let the players mitigate their own games. If we got more unique hero opportunities maybe offer another "Special Challenge" option @ startup to randomly eliminate 4 or more heroes when recruiting a special hero like Kurt Knispel. As we get to AO 43 and beyond the hero spam issue will only compound so perhaps another option would be to offer special heroes with up to 4 traits but tie the # of traits to your hero % chance @ startup.adiekmann wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 6:08 pmEven though I really appreciate the AT/AA heroes and young Manstein, I really expected/wanted another unique tank hero in this DLC. If we got a unique Kurt Knispel, what should his bonuses be? It is easy to get carried away and make him way too powerful.
That's a good idea. I've thought about much the same sort of thing. You wouldn't want people trading x2 field medic's for a rapid fire hero so you'd probably have to create a hero tier system with say 5 gradations only able to trade x2 heroes of an adjacent lower tier for x1 hero of a higher tier.scorehouse wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 2:14 am I love that idea. I just wish there were a way to turn in 2 for 1 or something. I'm halfway thru the 4 2, got 5 provacteurs and not one double move {which would really help in all the air battles? nor any lethal attacks. It would be nice if more Heroes were like Rudel where you get choices. we also need a repair Hero for Aircraft. another Barr perhaps with 3 options like Rudel. Hell, the most kills by German pilots were on the Eastern Front.
I think some have reported a bug in that they are not receiving a victory or something or other if they only defend the railroad station. That's I'm sure going to be corrected in the patch. I have since day 1 always been able to defend both so I haven't encountered it myself. You do not need any aircraft as there are none to deal with until the patch comes out that fixes all the Soviet aircraft that automatically crash upon their first turn. You could choose to field one tac bomber but remember there are many snowy turns so you often won't be able to use it.scorehouse wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 11:13 pm After Stalingrad, you can fight for a Railroad or Stalingrad Airfields or both? I see there are no commendation points to be exchanged so does which battle you fight matter?
