having trouble finding saved games. when I click on the icon at top, save by date or by name, only the auto save games are still showing?

Have you ever saved any games manually? Otherwise, only auto-save games will be present and they usually overwrite previous ones when you play the next map.

You can change or replace the save file name before exiting the game. I always add the campaign and who's turn it is. Examples "Brighton (Turn 4) - British Turn" or "Egypt (Turn 0) Deployment". For me that is easier than trying to remember/determine which auto save file I want to open.
