if the 88 is in AT mode, does it have AT support or does that require an attached AT Support Hero?

Why would AT mode not have AT support?

It has AT support. Which you can easily see in the trait list.

Thanks, saw it when I switched it from AA to AT mode at the bottom of the unit with Heroes and other traits. or is there a a Master Trait list somewhere? speaking of AA/AT, I just got my first AT support Hero prior to the battle for Kiev in the 41. that's halfway thru the 4th DLC. I don't remember HAL being so stingy awarding this hero? on the flip side, he's been very generous with 1.5X and First Aid. strange combo.

The randomness... I have at the end of 41 one At hero but 3 artillery support. I have 4 consolidator of which I got 3 at the very start of the dlc. And stuff like no surrender

There are heroes that are even rarer, but Artillery/AT Support do not pop up for me very often either. Like I posted in another thread, I think it is just a product of the true randomness of heroes. If every player here on the forum posted their "Most Frequently and Infrequently Awarded Heroes" list, I think you'd see results all over the place.

I got 2 artillery support heroes in my 1st playthrough and have since logged 1000+ hours. I have seen it one other time when messing around with different setting in a Wehrmacht campaign. I draw the anti-tank hero fairly regularly.

I think the rationale is to make the 21cm spam strategy only completely OP rather than unmanageably so. Often times I think to myself, "If I could just get an Artillery support hero on one of those four 21cm's, the formation would be effectively immune from infantry attack."

Put Artillery Support on any rapid-fire tank or infantry (or better yet Azul infantry).

For loz I made a Str 19, Camo, Butcher, Arty Support Azul... pairs well with another inf with Provocateur... in which case you can remvoe the camo hero since the AI can't understand what's happening

Edit: with PzGeneral you can have a str 13 PzII with arty support for only 3 slots. It's an excellent way to keep your infantry healthy.
