Unit and Hex scales in Panzer Corps

What is the physical size of a Hex in Panzer Corps?
Also, what do the individual units represent...Regiments, Battalions, Divisions?

Whatever the scenario needs them to be. You can have a whole map sized Warsaw in one scenario and another 3-hex Warsaw in another scenario. It depends on the scale of the battle and the focus when building the scenario.

The problem with that approach is that in the game (one example), infantry units have the same range as a tanks (They fire into adjacent hexs). If the tank carries HE rounds it would have a greater range than a basic infantry unit (In wwii). Heavy weapons infantry units would have greater range than a basic rifle unit, etc.
If an infantry unit represents only a company size unit it would not have support units like Battalion level heavy weapons. This depends on nation.
Unit overall capabilities depend on what it is... A armor division typically has a various auxiliary attached to it, like supply and antiaircraft, a tank platoon (in the present US army) contains 4 tanks and that's all. A tank company has 3 platoons (12 tanks) + a HQ group w/ 2 tanks and other vehicles.
The point is that the overall capabilities of a unit, like range and AA protection depend on the scale of the unite.

At least PC2 unit is not as large as divisional scale, there are many "division" group of units in AO, consisting of around 15~25 units, i.e. Rommel's 7th Panzer Division, Paulus' 6th Army. Air units might be squadron scale as there are units named "squadron" in AO Sealion path.
However you can also see units that appearently not fitting their historical size, i.e. there are 3 OSed KV-1 from Zinoviy Kolobanov's command, while he actually only have 5 vehicles in that famous ambush. So the only rule is "it depends". Being too tight about the historical composition can render game itself not playable, remember.
btw, weapon range is also included in the so-called "Initiative" status of a unit, it depends who shoots first in combat (if there is no other factors to modify it). Almost all vehicles have higher Initiative than infantry units, and AT guns have higher Initiative than vehicles, AA guns have higher Initiative than aircrafts, etc. to reflect the fact that they have better range than their opponents and can shoot before getting shot.
