AO with Franz Harder!

Reserving my place here for a difficulty playthrough of the AOs! Rather than some of the other, nice AARs here that handicap themselves with artificial rules, I thought to ratchet up the inherent difficulty in the game. I'm a longtime PC1 player and just passed through my first run with ironman generalissimus. Some very harsh nailbiting moments, such as at Eben Emael and Cerberus, but I made it through.

The proposed settings:
Generalissimus, david vs. goliath, shoestring, heroic showdown, collector, limited stock.
Ironman, 100% heroes dropping by 20% per year, 100% random combat results.

I am waiting on the limited stock bug to be fixed before starting. The idea here is that collector + limited stock should be enough to curb most of the silly prestige farming tactics or baiting tactics using infinite scouting planes. Tinkering around with some other challenge modes, but they seem a bit extreme to combine with multiple modes. I welcome comments for adjusting the parameters during the wait for the patch!

This is very close to the difficulty that made me quit playing on outrageous high difficulty.

But instead of David vs Goliath, I had Uphill Battle Turned on. The nightmare that is stat inflated late scenario reinforcement waves ended my DLC 1940 campaign. =(

Good luck!

Unfortunately, not knowing the exact mechanics behind that makes me not want to try it, especially with de Gaulle! In the meantime I am running a PzC 1 unit rebalancing AAR: viewtopic.php?f=145&t=106655

Good luck, that will be a fun read and for sure something educational given the difficulty settings having impact on various aspects of the game in a way most scenarios were not balanced towards at all. And the accomplishment of getting more and more missions done will indeed be grand.
