game won't launch

Hello,
I downloaded the game on steam and tried to launch for the first time but when I click 'play game' from the slitherin game launcher that pops up when I click 'play' in steam (and then click 'play' again from the steam key popup)... nothing happens. The steam popup says "preparing to launch warhammer 40k..." for a few seconds and then goes away.
