Is DaiSho a stinking cheat?

Hi All,

I've tried to check the rules but I can't seem to find anything that says I'm a cheat, but I'd be interested in other's opinion. Perhaps we need a poll?

Ok, if you take a Woman army... Lets say Dominate Woman.

I have 4 BG's of Woman Legionaries:
4 x Heavy Foot/Armoured/Average/Drilled/-/Impact Foot/Swordsmen
2 x Light Foot/Unprotected/Average/Drilled/Bow/-/-

In the same army, but (naturally) in separate BG's I have another 4 BG's of Woman Legionaries:

4 x Heavy Foot/Protected/Average/Drilled/-/Impact Foot/Swordmen
2 x Light Foot/Unprotected/Average/Drilled/Bow/-/-

So, is this the beginnings of a blatant cheat, or is this a cunning Woman?

Points of concern:

I) I have Armoured and Protected in the same army (I would have thought that the whole Roman army would have been equipped pretty much the same, so would have expected a compulsion to make them the same, but I coudln't find it)

II) I have complied with the 6-12 BG size, but doing it through having 2 Light Infantry supports. Again, it seems reasonable, and not breaking any rules.

Comments?

Dominant Woman :?: , are you sure you are on the right board :?

BTW, I think you are perfectly legal. (although I suppose this depends on what country you are from :P )

LOL. Yes, the 'Woman' was supposed to be a take - off the Monte Python way of saying Roman! Doesn't seem to work in the written text does it? :)

Thanks for your comment.

Not that I think there is anything wrong with a bit of letting the lady have the lead.

"All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?"...........Monty Python's Life of Brian. Great movie.

They could be from different legions, equipped to diifering standards. So I see no problem, but, If you want to cheat a dominate woman thats up to you.

If it were disallowed there would be a note (similar to the one about Auxilia all being HF or all being MF) saying that they had to have the same armour.

I thought you were about to make some confessions about using 8 sided dice or something....

Yes, I had the same thought, which is where I looked for a similar limitation, but there was none.

I didn't think I was doing anything wrong, but boy that gives some serious flexibility in creating an army.

Armoured/Protected/Superior/Average... hell in some other Roman lists Elite and Poor as well  .

I personally think anyone who uses a Roman army and DOESN'T get to the exact points score for the game should be penalised

Do you know how hard it is to get a 5 sided dice?

That's the one you want. An army of Poor troops and 5 sided dice 8)

Weighted preferably.

I played against Roman army with Germans one and it's frustrating. Well, it's also frustrating to see your opponent to roll some "6"s during terrain set up and so to remove your bushes :x
Anyway Romans dominate battlefield for some centuries in Europe, at least while in open field, and if the game didn't reflect this...

Yes, the Romans are very good, especially against impact/sword barbarians. This is especially welcome because other rule sets often de-valued them. I think FoG may have gone a little to far in representing their superiority against barbarians. The armor and skilled swordsmen POA's put them up two against barbarians, often giving them an overwhelming advantage. I think there has been some discussion (even amongst moderators) that the skilled swordsmen weapon category may have been an unnessary and/or excessive addition. Romans perhaps should have an advantage, but not an overwhelming advantage.

Or, for something completely different, Life of Brian The Wargamer - The DBx Remix

All right, but apart from the Army Lists, the 40mm Element, troops types based on relative effectiveness, not weaponry, dice based command and control, the same rules played all over the world, no more tedious morale tests, the QR sheet, and the end of single figure casualty removal, what have the DBx rulesets ever done for us?"

If WRG 1-7 is the Roman Republic, and DBx is the Roman Empire, then FoG must be the Byzantine Empire  :?:

I don't agree with your opinion. I find FOG is balanced in this match. Germans, Gauls, and similar warriors are even at impact, where they balance better Roman organization with charge impetus, but if they don't get an advantage in this phase then Romans can easily win, due their stunning military organization. My real problem with Germans against Romans was that when I managed to get a win in a fight, my opponent scored not less than 11 in CT :x
If you want balanced fight between Celts and Romans you must go to the Early Republic, where Romans are not skilled swordsman, but only swordsman, and protected (of course this depends if you play a scenario or a tournament, because in tournament your opponent can choose to upgrade legions)

I think the scene where centurion teaches Latin to Brian is one of the better in this movie

Yeah I was expecting something along the lines of auto-killing/never breaking units
