Galland in 1942

I noticed that Galland appears in his Fighter General role in AO 1942. Does that happen anyway, or only if released during AO 1941? In general, does that decision have consequences in AO 1942? I am playing the AO series again in anticipation of AO 1942 and I'd rather not have to backtrack to Operation Mercury because of my choice there.

I think you won't get the answer until release, those playing beta test can't say anything before that, while those don't have no idea about it.

Figured it wouldn't hurt to ask, I'll save just before making the choice and hopefully won't have to return to that save. Thanks!

Yup, information like that will only be released if marketing deem it useful or inconsequential. Otherwise we don't want to spoil anything.

I'd say (and do) have 2 different cores at the ready, one where you keep him and the other where you do not. Besides, I wanted to explore what it was like without him and with the better Bf 109G anyway. The one where I gave him up I began without importing a core (he's not as good as the one from Spain). So I decided at Crete to surrender him. So there was a difference between my two cores already.

My assumption is that we may have 2 different people briefing us depending on if galland is with us or not. Personally I hope it's mostly a cosmetic thing and doesn't have some long running reward tied to it (like say getting a fockw wolf early). I didn't take the deal in operation mercury and would be really annoyed if that had some super exclusive reward.

It would make perfect sense to do it like this. First of all, Galland played a very important role in some of the operations in 1942, so I assume his absence in the historical role will mean less resources to work with or some similar difficulty increase for the player. Secondly, game design these days is more about optional things and not locking out large pieces of content. Thus I don't think it will disable whole scenarios or objectives, just make them more challenging, and even that is somehow open for debate, since Galland as a fighter pilot adds really good stats to the core, making up for a lot of things that could be treated as negative impact on a mission.

All things being equal, I keep him especially if he's the Galland from Spain. But I think they should be some larger reward/benefit to giving him up down the road beyond the 100 Bf 109Gs, which isn't otherwise worth it.
