The 300 Dacians

Dacia is fighting a war against Macedonia. A force of Dacian veterans, four units of Dacian heavy infantry, who are good in mountains and rough terrain, had been nearly wiped out in the earlier fighting. They had been pulled off the front line to recover.
Now they were marching back toward the front line, in the region of Macedonia, and were marching through Agrianes, a quiet sector, to get there.
Suddenly, the battle screen turned up after the turn was ended, showing no less than 26 Dardani units, including a strong force of heavy infantry, warriors and skirmishers, attacked the four Dacian Heavy Infantry. Dardania was a client state of Macedonia that had so far not intervened in the war.
The frontage in the province was 8, and the Dacians had no skirmisher support. They were certain to be outflanked, and I prepared maysoelf to losethese four units, all at the highest level of experience.
The battle began, and the Dacians met the enemy heavy infantry in the center. Each unit faced Heavy Infantry, supported by skirmishes, but the Dacians were better in hills and mountains. The Dacians won every combat, killing all four of the enemy units they faced. Some enemy units attacked their flanks, but the Dacians easily repulsed the stunned attackers. The whole Dardani army broke and fled, with the Dacians suffering no significant damage.
