Claim function not working

I seem to have drawn a few opponents that have become non-responsive :<. Anyway trying to clear my screen from one of those that is now 40 days out. I click the Claim function and I get the connecting/spinning imperial Japanese flag/Please wait ... graphic on my screen and it just goes until it times out.
