Need help with Knights_M_Diffuse problem

I wanted to edit the Knights_M_Diffuse@.dds to make some kingdom specific knights with the right heraldry but i cant open it in gimp. Ive been editing tons of unit textures in FOG2 and FOG med and this is the first diffuse i couldnt edit, anyone got an idea how to fix this?

Not much help but they're exactly the same .dds format as previously so there shouldn't be any issue. They're just bigger.

And theres no way to guarantee a particular texture set will always be used unless you reduce the number of available texture sheets so the game doesn't have a choice.
So you'd keep your root texture, for side0 and those in the texture1 folder, for side1. You have to ensure there were no knight_M textures in the other texture folders.

Of course don't do that to your main build.

As Pat said, the knights textures are exactly the same format as the others. So I am puzzled why Gimp will not open the knights textures, unless it is the larger size that is the problem. I don't use Gimp, so cannot offer any other explanation.

I been troubleshooting and i figured out a weird fix. I opened them with Paint.net then exported as png then opened the png with gimp edited them like usual and exported to DDS. Tested and my new textures are working!

Which kingdoms are you focusing on?

What'd you mod in FoG Ancients?

Magnificent knights! As I see they are the French Knights. I also see that there are the English Knights and the German ones there. Could you show us them too?

Right now i finished up french english germans castilian navarrese bohemians and am still working on aragon poland sicily and scotland. Also might add occitan denmark english-baronial and anglo-irish. When im done ill upload a modpack with all the new units for use in editor. No idea if im gonna try and add em to the army lists yet.

Sounds great. It will be possible to arrange spectacular knightly tournaments :)
You could make changes to the ArmyList.txt of your modpack by replacing Knights_M units in the armies where you made the change, for example,
// 1155-1319
[LF_FRENCH]

// 1155-1271
[EP_ENGLISH]

// 1155-1199
[MI_FEUD_GERMAN] ect

And your magnificent knights will be fully represented in the game (skirmish battles).

Man, these are going to be VERY nice. They'll add a lot more personality to the the various factions.

Maybe Chronos can help you add them to Custom Battles if you can't figure it out.
