There seem to be no way to win the Tutorial 'successful suppression' puzzle. After trying various options, I found a solution online which use split units to surround and this force surrender, however, that is not possible todo in game as splitting unit seem to prevent further movement.

Has the game rules been changed?

Just completed this mission on the latest version.

It can definitely still be won. Good luck working it out and, if you get stuck, feel free to ask me for a hint :).

The solution that is shown in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCFroaZLarc doesn't work. As shown above splitting a unit and moving both sub units in the same turn doesn't seem to work. And without extra unit to block retreat this doesn't seem to be solvable.

Questions:
1. Are you using the same solution as in the video? If so what game version you are using? ( steam version 1.1.21 here)
2. If not I would love a hint about which game tutorial covers relevant mechanic, or a hint

The hint is, you can split a unit before it fires and gain two attacks.

You need to kill the units on the right, before the units on the left in both cases.

If you need more hints, just let me know.

The video is nearly the method I used, but there is a slightly more assured method with some slightly different unit placement.

Sounds weird, I just gave it a try and finished this one normally thanks to the hint on splitting, main part after split is still able to move and attack.

Exactly, as I have shown in the screenshot above, I can't do that. It doesn't matter when or which unit I split, i can't move the second one even though it show to have movement.

Are you using any mods? Try verifying your files using steams file verification (if on the steam version).

You should be able to move both parts of any split unit, as long as you used the split button to move the first bit.
