Cav AP Bug?

I had a situation come up where I could move that cavalry unit to the shaded top right square in pic. I could also move immediately to my right. But, the square inbetween I apparently couldn't move to. A friend says this is a bug... am I missing something?

This situation appears in P&S and FOGIIA too.

It is not a bug, however weird it may seem.

The system intentionally only takes into account the overall change of direction from the starting position to the final position when determining turn costs incurred in making a move. It does not take into account any intermediate twists and turns. This rule is intended to mitigate the artificiality of playing on a square grind, and in general solves more problems than it causes, but does sometimes lead to odd looking situations like this.

On this basis, the permitted move is less than 45 degree turn, the non-permitted move is more than a 45 degree turn.

Yes, the unit passes through that square to make the permitted move, and it looks weird, but it is working as intended.
