Disabling shadows

So, I reached the final US Pacific scenario and the dense city really tanks my fps.
I noticed that picking the "good" preset lowers the video quality enough for 60+ fps but it turns the shadows so ugly that I'd rather see them disabled.
Is there any tweak doable by messing with files?
