Dismount as MF with missile weapon CMT or not for a charge?

In the Ilkhanid Mongol list it says cav can dismount as MF Bow Sword and they retain all the qualities and training...."shooting and close combat capabilities....as when mounted."

In the rules on page 60 in Charging With Missile Armed Foot Troops it requires such troops as medium foot armed with bow to take a CMT to charge. This would include dismounted Cav Bow Sword of any type, however it seems to me that the lists allow the Ilkhanid Mongol dismounted MF Bow Sword to charge without the CMT because they are treated "...as when mounted" for their capabilities.

I would not use this provision to justify a 5 MU move for the MF or the ability to evade.

But what about the CMT requirement for MF missile armed foot?

Capabilities is a game term, if you look at P130 it lists all the "combat capabilities".

Essentially when dismounted they retain their bow and swordsman combat capabilities, their training (drilled or undrilled) their grade (superior etc.) and not all of the other things that they would have by virtue of being cavalry.

If you want you can field your cavalry as expensive medium foot. There are situations where this is actually really useful but most of the time they are better mounted.

Thanks Hammy,

I suspected that the CMT would be required and was asking the question with no firm plan to do this, however I can envisage terrain situations and possibly ambushes where it could be useful to dismount to be expensive MF.

Your response has given me a better insight into the rules, thanks again.

remember you can only dismount at the beginning of the game. Not part way through.

To be more precise  , assuming the ordering in the rule book is meant to be reflect the order of actions in the deployment phase, dismounts occur after depolyment of BGs, but before deployment of cmmanders.
