I have a question about round 3 of the ongoing tournament. It seems like if the round ends early because one side takes all victory hexes, the "winner" doesn't get credit for holding those hexes for the remainder of the turns. I'm realizing that I would have been way better off to just surround the last one and sit just do nothing but buy replacements as needed for the remainder of the turns rather than capturing the last victory hex. Am I missing something or is this indeed the case?

This is a problem for all rounds. There isn't benefit from early victory.

As it should be for an early victory - get points for all remaining rounds for all points * bonus for early victory.

Gotcha, I feared that was the case. I really hope they fix that before further tournaments. I really enjoyed playing, if they iron out a few kinks it will be even better!

I played slow with the Germans to finish in the last round and yes, got more point than my opponent who finished a round earlier, 600 or 900 points extra I think for the extra hex count that extra turn. I tried it and took it slow after reading this thread and yes, there is the negative bonus for ending the war/battle/match quickly. In my defence, I had a hard time making sure I could end the game in turn 14 so I didn't take the risk.

Yeah, it's pretty unfortunate. On game 3, as the Germans I took all victory hexes pretty early (maybe turn 8 or 10 or so?) and actually got _fewer_ points than my opponent for the match because they had held a majority of the points through round 6 or so.
