I use Steam. This morning I loaded and am told there is a newer version and to use the launcher to update before I can proceed, but the steam launcher has no update option and steam has not updated.

This must be because of the open beta, you can opt out for it in Steam, see the details here:

I don't use steam but am told that there is a newer version of the game and cannot play until I update. I launch the FoG updater and it tells me I have the most recent version of the game.

I'm not aware of having signed up to FoG:E beta and the link doesn't tell me how to update.

Please advise how to resolve this problem ASAP... I need to make my daily turns or the AI will take over and it isn't anyway near as effective!

Well I will throw a small wrench in here because I don't use Steam for Empires, and I appear to be getting the same message this morning. I have Empires installed on both computers and I am getting the same message. I was playing both a multiplayer and single player game last night with no issue. Now I can't get in to the MP game. Others in my MP game have not mentioned issues today. I have Steam on my computer and will see if that is causing an issue, otherwise I have no idea what is going on.

The issue is not with Steam. After I load the game, the game will not allow me to connect to MultiPlayer unless I update.

Same with me. I tried the new open beta and that did not work. I am unable to get into my MP game.

The very same with me, using both versions Steam and download version. I cannot do my multiplayer sessions!

Sorry guys we are working on the hiccup ...

I get the first screen, but then I just click the check mark and I can load a game or start a new one. I normally get automatic updates, so I guess I don't have the problem because I have not updated?

Sorry! We broke something when we were setting the beta up. We have now un-broken it and everything should be fine.

I think this is now working OK. I'm into the MP screen now, but have no moves to make, so can't confirm that everything is working perfectly, but it looks good...

Looks okay. It's still called version 1.3.4, (x1000606)? So no auto update, I have to DL the beta?
