Slitherine

I had to reinstall FOG2 today. On then trying to access multi-player I get the message 'The server has been unable to validate your details. Please contact the support forums...'.
I am not able to enter my username and password as that screen is blocked by this error message.

I am still able to access MP in FoG-medieval, Pike and Shot and Sengoku.

Can you advise please?

Hey, I've got exactly the same problem with Field of Glory 2 bought via steam. I've seen another thread about this issue on the forum, so it might be common problem. I've contacted Slitherine support, but no solution has been found so far...

Sorry for the inconvenience. Did you reinstall over an old version? That is - were your save files etc kept intact across the reinstall?

I used the Windows 10 uninstall option first and then downloaded from Steam. I did not check to see what happened to the save files etc.
I have tried now also to uninstall everything including save files and then reinstall the game from Steam, but I am still unable to get into MP (which was working fine until yesterday afternoon).

Same here. In my case, i have an install on a desktop via steam where everything works fine, and today i installed on a notebook via steam.
When tried to access multiplayer i have no option to introduce my login details, i receive the 'The server has been unable to validate your details. Please contact the support forums" message.
Obviously on my notebook there were no gamesaves.
My slitherine login details are different from the steam ones, if this is relevant i don't know.

Edit: the gamesaves are indeed present (didn't know they were in the cloud, so i assumed they were not there). No MP login details though...

For any of you - does a FieldOfGlory2.txt file exist in Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2? If so, try renaming it and then running the game.

Sorry, Pip, I found such a file and renamed it but the error continues.

I've performed a fresh install of the game and there is no such file in Domuments/MyGames/FieldOfGlory2. Unfortunately the problem with MP remains.

Problem solved through reinstallation and, amusingly enough, reinstatement of the FieldofGlory.txt file. Thanks for your help anyway and I hope the others find a solution.

Ahuyton, could you tell me what is the content of that file? In my case it doesn't exist in the directory, so I would like to create it and check if it works.

Ah, that may be the problem. I realise it did not exist in my directory either but I found it in a backup and copied it into the directory. It contains simply the serial number of my copy of FoG2, as follows:

FOGB-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

Obviously I have replaced my number with the xs. So maybe you should try to create it?

Copying the FieldOfGlory.txt file from my desktop to my laptop did the trick for me too. Thank you guys!

We are working on a more permanent fix for this, but ahuyton's workaround should work for anyone who also has a valid Slitherine serial code.

Hi youki,

Pending a definitive fix, the PBEM code has now been tweaked so you should be able to log into MP from STEAM without any FieldOfGlory2.txt file in /Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2. (If you previously attempted to concoct one without a valid serial, please delete it).

The first time you log into MP with STEAM, the game won't know you, so it won't show a serial and you will need to enter your username and password. It will then write a FieldOfGlory2.txt file containing your STEAM serial.

On subsequent MP logins the dialogue will display your STEAM serial and will remember the username and password you last typed in.

I can confirm that multiplayer is working fine now. Thank you very much for your help!
