Just bought this game a week ago, but just now I want to start playing this game in the same intensity as Medieval one. Is there any difference in mechanics compared to Medieval?

Inf is slower. Doesn't have as much AP as in Ancients. Less flanking around. Battles seem more even with no elephants or cataphracts which you don't have. You need to learn how to use Crossbowmen and Longbowmen.
At the moment, I am enjoying Medieval more than Ancients to be honest.

I heard that there's a slight difference in ranged mechanics, is this true?

I don't see much difference. Game in that regard is the same or almost the same. I am sure that you will enjoy it.

It has the same AP in Medieval as in Ancients, but nearly all Medieval heavy infantry is Unmanoeuvrable, so it is slower to do anything other than move straight ahead.

Well not absolutely all, but almost, yes. Most of the differences are related to the interaction between knights and various cavalry and infantry types, and to field fortifications.
