If (when) Slitherine/Osprey come out with a medieval scenarios book, what would you MUST HAVE battles be?

There are about 100 for me, but I'll restrain myself and keep it to 10 to start off:

These are some of my favourite late Med refights. Tewkesbury makes a great campaign...can Edward bring Somerset to battle before he crosses the Severn and links up with Welsh forces? Stoke Field pits a bill 'n' bow army against Irish "warbands" and mercenary pikemen arrayed on a hillside. Fornovo allows an Italian States army to try cross a river and crush the French before the "Italian Wars" get into full swing!

As it says on the Wiki article, 'Reliable historical accounts of the battle are scarce.' Modern historians have generally (though not universally) come to see 'the battle of' Kosovo as a statement of Serb national identity rather than an actual battle. The view of historians of the Balkans now tends towards the view that the Serbs were intimidated in to leaving the field of Kosovo without a fight. I am aware that this is an area that is very politicised.

As a rule I would also suggest that more care has to be exercised when using Wikipedia as a source, as it is notoriously unreliable.

From the above posts, Liegnitz 1241, Tewsbury 1471, Tannenburg 1410 and Ankara 1402 seem to be the leaders. I'll have to see what I can cook up for scenarios!

I don't mean to jack the thread but the TS has got me wondering. Are they any plans to publish any FoG scenario books?

No idea, but my guess would be not before FoG-R and FoG-N are released. At any rate I would prefer a campaign extension book first (with stuff like naval rules, etc.). I'm not sure any scenario books would sell well enough for Slitherine/Osprey to consider them. Might be more worthwhile if we get off our collective butts and populate this subforum instead. Particular well made scenarios might even find a place on the FoG homepage.

Mmmm... "to crush" the French appears a little too generous for the result obtained by my compatriots, and in particular by my fellow citizens (I live in Bologna and Bolognesi knights led by Bentivogli made a bad impression). If I remember well, the bigger result they obtained was made by Stradioti of Venezia army who captured the king's baggage, but they gave up to capture the king himself for looting (it seems the most remarkable element of the booty was a book of pornography images which was returned to the king)

I think you are right Mario, not the finest day for the Italians! Wasn't it at this battle the Italian men at arms tried to cross a frozen river to attack a French column and got so disordered that they were rather easy pickings for the invaders!

Your story about the stradiots in Venetian service rings a bell with me, too. Hmmm ... I have an Italian states force in 28mm and a friend has a French force ...maybe with a bit more information we could recreate this battle?

Oman has LOADs about this Battle. I am working on it as a scenario - not just for these rules.

Not so sure, but Bolognesi knights I think didn't arrive at half of river crossing

I would much rather see campaign rules before a book of historical scenarios.
