Recover pbem password?

Hi community,

is there a way to recover a pbem password for Military History Commander Grand Strategy 3.0?

I have started a game as Axis with a friend, who seemingly lost intersted (it is his first game), but now to my surprise has made the first Allies turn after 3 months.
In the meantime, I have forgotten the password I had created for Axis.
I could of course restart, but if there were a way to recover my password, I would be less worried creating a hassle for my friend (strategy players are rare!).

I read somewhere that someone with code ownership could do that, is there anything which can be done?
Thanks for your help-

Unfortunately the passwords are stored encrypted in the save file. This is done deliberately so players can't use any tools to look for passwords. In the original CEAW these were stored unencrypted.

In GS v4.0 you can play with automatic passwords. Then you don't have to remember it. The game will read your PC parameters and use that to validate. The downside of that is that you can't play your turns on different computers.

Thanks for your help! (We have started a new game.)

And thank you for the clarification regarding 4.0.
