AI Unit choice

Playing a 5 battle campaign on Baron - Progressive difficulty with German S/E 1200-1319 vs German N/W 1200-1319. I always take at least five dismounted knights as they own every other infantry unit on the field. However the AI only ever chooses one or two instead preferring to spend it's points on cheap units like raw or defensive spearmen. This makes battles a bit one sided as the AI gets rolled up by my superior infantry. Does the AI prefer quantity over quality? It spends money on dismounted knights in the earlier German rosters but once the price goes up to 78 in the later ones it decides their not worth their cost. The AI does by a lot of mounted knights though, it seems to really value them.

The AI simply chooses its forces in proportion to the numbers of each type available in the list. With a large random element.

It does not favour particular types.

If you are finding the campaign battles too easy, increase the difficulty setting.

In terms of relative points of troops, camapaigns start half a difficulty level lower than single custom battles. If you set the difficulty as static, this continues through the campaign - provided that you are not losing more than 15% losses in each battle. If you set it as Progressive, it rises gradually to half a difficulty level above the equivalent single battle difficulty by the end of the campaign.
