I'm sure I am missing something, but I can't assign transports to any units when creating a scenario. The method I have been trying is shift-LMB on the desired unit and then selecting the desired transport type in the drop-down list box. But when I select "Ok", the unit still shows no transport?! I've been able to assign strength, experience, entrenchment, etc. this way. Another funny thing is the unit type always shows up as "Landing Craft" when the panel is brought up. Thanks in advance for any help!

you have to do it in the Configure Units window, there you can assign them an organic transport
