Chapel de fer(kettle/pot helm) problems

I watched some game beta videos lastweek but I noticed there were very less unit with the chapel de fer.I saw many 13th century manuscripts and chapel de fers were very common among the soldiers especially the foot soldiers, but in game I saw only the knights and defensive spearmen(armoured) wore the chapel de fers.I think the game really should add more chapel de fers to the unit models,as the chapel de fer was a type of common helmets in high middle ages.

One form of Kettle Hat is there for some of the units. This is from a preview picture in a wargamer site article that since their transition is no longer easily accessible:

I'm guessing with infinite time and infinite art budget one might see more helm variety....also with expansions in the future....however do consider that neither of those is actually infinite given the nature of game development generally speaking. Also one might note that FoGII is the type of game system where most of the units seem to try to go for a more uniform iconic look for ease of recognition. Although as one can see there is some variety in the visual appearance of the units especially some of the shields but it does appear to mainly be done with textures rather than by making a lot of changes to the unit models from what I can see.

Yes,but those were defensive spearmen(armoured) and knights I pointed before.Other units don't have kettle hats.I've seen some of the armylists preview in one of the beta videos. At least they should make more variation of unit models in one unit and as you see they could do that(like the FoG2's germanic warbands),will looks more historical accurate.

It's just a matter of budget. Obviously if they had a larger budget they could afford to have period specific armor changing every 50 years - but they don't. After all, Kettle Hats wouldn't be accurate for the earlier period. Maybe future patches will add some, but there is a point at which such things will cost more money than they would ultimately help the game generate, and game publishing is a business, after all.

I would definitely donate to get more armies and time periods out of richard's game system and get them quickly (if it could ever help it). Not sure I would donate to see different shapes of those soup plates on my soldiers' heads though, even if I understand those who wish to push historical accuracy as far as possible :-)
