Air deployment blues

I'm stumped...
Why can't I deploy these USMC air units on the US CVEs. The factions are of course part of the same team (custom campaign scenario).
The carriers are spawned units arriving the same turn as air command points are added. They air units can't deploy te next turn either.
In another scenario I could deploy similar units in the deployment phase.
Save-game added.
Update: If the carriers are available at start, I may deploy air units. So it looks like a spawn-unit issue.
Nah...I can deploy at start, but not on a later turn.

Eric,
If you are still jammed up on this, please send me a link to download the scenario and I'll try to help. The save game is no help.
atcho sarviss!

Here it is, minus all pics etc.
Note that I have added off-map air exit/deployment as a work-around.
You need to add a couple of core air units, this scenario is aprt of a new campaign.
So, you should be able to deploy air units on the carriers in the deployment phase, but not in a later turn.

They have the wrong faction. You can't deploy Marines' planes on US carriers mid-game.
And BTW, the "destroy all bunkers" and "eliminate all enemy" sec. obj. won't trigger, even at scen end.
A quick check with the editor.... aaaaand... there's the culprit: remove the "check obj. state" condition from both triggers; it's really not needed here. And maybe you better change the trigger event to "combat" with the bunkers objective too, there're not many captureVP events in this scen.
PS: I guess you also could keep the "check obj. state" condition, but then both sec. obj. would need the same trigger event as the prim. obj.: namely "turn start".

Aha, thanks. Being able to deploy during the deployment phase and not in a later turn is a bugette in my view.
(This scenario is part of a new campaign and still under construction).

Thanks Gabe for the lesson on USMC compatibility.

I simply changed the carrier from US to USMC.
conboy, I wonder if there was a similar issue in one of your Italian campaign scenarios?
I remember I could not deploy US Army air units on regular US carriers. Something like that.

Yes, in the Salerno campaign, US Army planes could not deploy on any aircraft carrier. But that makes sense, because Army pilots weren't trained for carrier air ops.
USMC pilots were, though, so they should be able in OoB.

In retrospect, there are 2 things at play:
1) the plane has to be carrier-interoperable
2) plane and carrier factions must match

Fully agree. Deploying units from the same team/alliance on every flagged city-hex (or airfield) is possible with land and air units and should be with naval, too.
And BTW, same carrier-mechanic is valid for airstrips: you can't deploy into another faction's airstrip mid-game.

While testing my theory I just continued to play...

Well, it seems you can actually land an air unit (Marine Corps) from one faction onto a carrier from another faction (US Army).
Here are some screenshots from a current Operation Olympic multiplayer game which proves it.
So, I'm still stumped
Maybe it only works in multiplayer?

Yes, that always worked. Just deploying seems not to. I don't know if I would call it a "bug" really - but at least an oversight...
