Why do you still stick with the OG Panzer Corps?

I'm glad to see this forum section more or less alive. What are your reasons for not jumping on the PzC2 bandwagon?

Though I bought PC2 when I had a access to a decent discount, I have hardly played it.
I find the units have poor visual contrast with the background and the icons were difficult to tell apart. In general I find isometric pseudo-3d hard going on my eyes and much prefer the simpler and cleaner original PC visuals. It's also very power-hungry and although I have a fairly decent PC it feels like it's struggling.
On top of this, although I have only a basic grasp of modding skills I have grown to like my adjustments.
I suspect that if I'd never played original Panzer Corps i would have thought PC2 was OK, but it hasn't felt like an improvement when Ive played it.

I kind of agree with this, plus the maps seem so much smaller... ((

I was on the beta for PC2...my computer did not like it. I found the mechanics clunky, and the graphics were...less than desirable

I have a Macbook from 2016 and I don't think there is any way PzC 2 can run on it with decent performance. Even though I have played through the GC several times I feel I am not done with PzC 1 yet

I bought it early, installed it, watched lots of videos from others players, I am planning to start Spanish Civil war, but no time for it, right now.
Pz Corps 2, has lots of limitations.
Although has lots of innovations, there also lots of things I am not fond of.
It is less strategic, less realistic from Pz Corps.
Small maps, everything is cramped together.
You move your units all stacked together and wait for the AI to attack.
And minor reasons eg. I do not like airplanes going back to base every turn.
In general I am not impressed by 3d graphics in any kind of game.
They tend over emphasize eye candies over substance.
A similar problem happened with Panzer General in the past.
Overall, I think of it as a toyish approach of Panzer Corps rather than realistic.
Of course I am going to support it by buying all the Pz Corps 2 DLCs, because I very much appreciate Slitherine products. But when I will play it, I will do it once for the sake of it.

PzC2 will not run on your Macbook at all.
Until Wine is able to run DirectX11 no Mac or Linux machine will be able run PzC2.

I bought PC2 when it first came out, but my computer couldn't handle the graphics. I'll upgrade someday, but, it's not a priority for me at the moment. So for now, my game will sit on the shelf.

I guess I will stick with PzC 1 then for a foreseeable future

Interesting insight on the number of players these days:

I'd say that PzC is doing not that bad

Who says that you have to stick to one of the two? You can just as easily play both
PC obviously has the advantage of having far more material available right now. And it allows for much larger maps; the amazing Battlefield: Europe mod wouldn't be possible in PC2. At least not in remotely the same way as it is right now.
I'll gladly move back and forth depending on the mood, and what sort of missions and campaigns are currently available. Thing is, right now you always have to wait some time to get the next campaign for PC2, as playthroughs are obviously much quicker than development, while you can jump right in and play all campaigns and mods for PC.

I don't understand why this isn't possible/wasn't possible... the developers did stress tests on huge maps early on... what happened to this idea on the way... I think the BE mod (as well as many others) helped keep PzC alive for Slitherine for quite a while IMHO
Thanks to all modders and supporters of this great game!

I prefer Panzer Corps gameplay and straightforward graphics. I can see how some new or younger players may be more attracted to the look of Panzer Corps 2, but for me the graphics are too gaudy.

Mhm, I don't know much about any tests of that kind, but I do seem to remember comments about the map-size not allowing anything remotely close to the size BE used (granted, not from developers). To be fair, the BE-map was enormous, and it definately pushed PC to its limits.
I always loved big maps like that. I also build some of them for myself, for my own version of a larger eastern front scenario (split into three different versions for Barbarossa, Case Blue and Kursk), way before I stumpled upon BE. Even down to checking which division was to be found at which spot on the map, which was a ton of work, and somewhat limited by the lack of available maps on the Soviet side

Those didn't have any sort of script-triggers though, as I just used it to play against myself anyway.
I think I still should have an not quite finished large-sized Courland-pocket scenario floating around somewhere.

That doesn't really have much to do with "new" or "younger" players. There is no real connection between what sort of graphics people prefer and how old they are or how long they have played a game. Someone can just as easily be older and have played Panzer Corps and even Panzer General before that and still prefer PC2 to PC1.

The smaller maps of PzC2 is serious limitation for many players.
Are these maps of yours available to download?

I have great PC than is required for PzC2 but im still with PzC. Loading is long for me. The game, although demanding, does not look so amazing. It all merges there somehow. There are some things that I like. But there are things like planes that don't fit this game. The campaign is short and the Grand Campaign is out of sight. Plus, I still haven't finished the old GC. And of course you run this older version on the iron and it doesn't look older every year. It looks the same. : D Unfortunately, PzC 2 already looks obsolete today.
