Just been looking through Eternal Empire and the Later Lithuanian list has caught my eye what do you think of the following list:
FC
2 TC
7 BGs of Lithuanian Cavalry 4 LH, Unp, Ave, Undr, Bow, L Spear, Sword
2 BGs of Polish Cavalry 3 Kn, HA, Sup, Undr, Lancer, Sword - 3 Cav Arm, Sup, Undr, XBow, Sword
1 BG of Teutonic Knights 4 Kn, HA, Sup, Drilled, Lancers, Sword
1 Fortified camp

The mixed Polish units do not work, I tried them enough to know they are a terrible idea.
Much better to spend the points and have them all as Kn, or have 1 Polish bg of Kn, and one as Cv Xb

I can't comment on whether the mixed Polish BGs work or not.
The army looks similar to an Ilkhanid design I've tried. It looks small though. I can see you perhaps breaking through with the knights in one area then getting swamped. Or perhaps struggling to avoid interpeption or flank charges.

That is why the armd cav XB is so helpful as it really holds up short enemy LH trying to swamp your LH. The hard part for the steppe Knight based armies is that espeically if you have 3 KN Bgs you get to only about 12 BGs total. And what do you really have to get enmeny MF out of uneven? LH? OK sort of.

I tried the mixed battle group the other night and was quite happy with them.

I do not like the Lithuianian cav though.

Still tiny though. That LH is good but expensive.

I agree, I'm trying to find an army to use against my likely opponents which are Early Byznatines, Romans, feudal Scots, Han, Carthaginians and WotR Yorkists. I like the LH Bow / Kn Sup combination and also LH / Cav armies like Huns, ilkhanids and Syrians but struggling to come up with my ideal army.

Later Lithuanian did well at the UK Games Expo - Birmingham - tournament.
What composition did Bob use for that?

I'd probably have at least one or two LH BGs in 6s. That way you can charge opposing lights without worrying too much about autobreaks and you get the maximum benefit from attached generals.

One of the better armies with LH / Kn combination is Santa Hooey Doo Dah. You can have 20 bases of Protected, Javelin, Lt Spear, which at 8pts a base are an absolute steal! Some Drilled knights and plenty of rubbish to bulk up the army (i.e. poor LF)

Does the 2" range limit their effectiveness or can they still ride up, 'shoot' and escape if charged.

I have a 800AP Santa Herman thingummybob army - Whacking great piles of Drilled Spear & Pikes, plus more than enough crossbows & arquebusiers to give any shooty armies a headache

You want to fight other LH and LF so that isn't an issue, HF can't catch you at all regardless of range, if exactly at 2" then the only problem is with Cavalry who will catch you on a 6-1, so it will happen now and again, but not so often that it is a problem.
Here is my first draft (not used yet)
1x4 Drilled Knights – 104
1x4 Undrilled Knights – 92
5x4 LH, Protected, Javelin, Lt Spear – 160
1x4 LH, Protected, Xbow – 32
2x4 HF, Armoured, Average, Drilled, Off Sp – 80
2x4 HF, Armoured, Average, Drilled, Def Sp – 72
3x4 LF, Firearm – 48
1x6 LF, Poor, Bow – 18
1x6 LF, JLS - 24
1x4 MF, Protected, Average, Drilled, Xbow - 28
4 TC's – 140
18 BG's at 798 points. Apart from on BG of knights it is all drilled, plenty of disposable generals. Looks good to me.

Certainly hope so, or that's my SH armylist knackered LOL
In fact, almost everything on that army list - with the exception of Bombards - can be taken in 4's

A "Santa & his five elves" swarm? Priceless.
As for Lithuanian.....anybody know any other LH+Kn+Steppe armies?
