I noticed in the errata (1.12) that there is no restriction on wheeling in a rear charge.

However there is no definition on what constitutes a rear charge - the only specified requirement is it must meet the flank/rear charge requirement.

Is it required to entirely behind the rear edge of the BG, or is only 1 base required to so be, or can it start entirely forward of the rear edge. If a BG is stepped forward do you use any rear base, any contacted base, the rearmost contacted base, or the rearmost base? What if it is facing in multiple directions?

Is it required to first contact a rear edge, or is it reqired to only contact rear edges, or is it sufficient to contact a rear edge. Can it be a rear charge if it only contacts a rear corner?

Its just a flank or rear charge that contacts the rear edge of a BG so bases turn to the rear. Nothing more really. There is no definitin of a rear charge per se. All of them follow the same rules as flank or rear charge section. Its just what they hit and where.

Except that flank charges that starts within 1 MU can't include a wheel, but rear charges can.
Is the turning a requirement? If a BG hits a flank that is unengaged, and steps fowarwd into the rear of an engaged base only the unengaged base would turn. Or are you intending that so long as it hits the rear edge of a base it it a rear charge - even if it hits a side first?

We had this once before and I can't recall what we decided. The flank one is specifically to stop things that were very close - e.g. overlaps that had gone past the line - doing such charges. I don't think it makes much difference either way for things that contact rear edges. In the diag there is an example of a rear charge that "can wheel as outside 1MU".

Anyone recall where the stream is - some time ago.
