Update nonsense

Downloaded three updates. Tried to install first one v01.01.10 and got notification to remove existing PC2 program. I removed said program then went to install first update again but cannot - received notification that no base game found. Is this a joke?

Please explain why most other game software updates what you have without having to uninstall and then having to re-install because the update can't verify you have the thing in the first place!

Having re-installed and loaded a save that damn mini map on bottom right is there again and I've tried all keys to remove it. Getting quite hacked off with PC2 now and wish I'd bought it on Steam where updates are automatic. Sod uninstalling a game to update it. Complete pants.

I've been quite unhappy with the update situation and the messages you must uninstall and start over.

While this may or may not have to do with Field Marshal and/or general editions - I will be very hesitant to buy such things in the future. It seemed like a good idea at the time but now not worth the hassle.

Just one persons thoughts, I'm sure there are others that think this is fine. I will try to avoid any game in the future that seems to require uninstall to upgrade, but not much else I can do. Maybe I need to also stop quickly buying a release that I waited for and instead wait 6 or more months to see what the forum says. Heck, game will probably be cheaper as well.

I have now linked my General's edition to Steam. That will (hopefully) mean updates are automatic, as with the other titles I have there. I still find it odd that an update is an entire program rather than tweeking what's already present!
